The Purpose of This Website
Man’s best friend
I’ve made this website (blog?) because I want a place where I can share more in depth writing about the adventures and journeys I find myself on. I have found that other avenues of sharing my writings and photos are limiting in their character count and ability to pair them with specific photos so I figured I will do it with my own website.
I began writing in 2015 as a way to not only put thoughts to paper but to leave a piece of me behind for the inevitable end. A way for me to leave more than just spoken words but deeper thoughts I’ve conjured through my life and especially when during travel. Writers such as Anthony Bourdain, Hunter S Thompson, Jeremy Clarkson, and Matt George helped me to find my own way of writing. My own style unchecked from what school told you was right and wrong. Their education has taught me that there is no one way, this way, or that way of writing. Just write.
My family has always been an adventurous bunch. Traveling to places all over the world, never shying away from a new experiences, unique cuisine, you name it. As I’ve gotten older, the desire to travel has never changed. However, the how I wanted to see the world did. I found myself missing something when I traveled. My love for all things motorized. For year’s I had taken for granted the great machines I’d piloted or sit passenger as to get to these epic destinations. The fixing, breaking, fixing again, fails, and wins are all part of the bond between man and machine. The excitment of the journey makes the destination sweeter
A few years back, I dug up my mom’s old Minolta SRT200 film camera from the late 70’s. I fell in love with the unexplainable warmth it captures in every picture. I also fell in love with the process of photography with a film camera. Unlike the trigger happy abilities of our smartphones, film forces you to stop, adjust, adapt, and make it count. I still take a lot of blurry pictures out of it but every now and then I get a good one thats good enough for me. I will try and do my best to use this camera when explaining some of these stories.
I hope you guys enjoy what I share here. I’ve added a few stories already just to get this thing going.
